Parks, Recreation
& Special Events

The City of Spartanburg maintains over 350 acres of parkland, 18 basketball courts, 14 playgrounds, 10 baseball fields, 10 tennis courts, 8 picnic shelters, 4 walking trails, 4 gymnasiums, 3 swimming pools, 2 amphitheaters, 1 football field and a baseball stadium. the City also coordinates a wide variety of festivals, concerts, activities & special events for all ages.

Recreation Centers

The City's Parks & Recreation Facility maintains Five recreations centers. Each with special programs throughout the year. Recreation Center programs include:

  • Dog obedience classes
  • Football
  • Cheerleading
  • Industrial League Basketball
  • Easter egg hunts
  • Summer Playground Programs
  • Homework Clubs
  • Seniors Bingo & Checkers
  • Aerobics, yoga, dance classes & more

Woodland Heights Center

Swim Center
447 South Church Street
Indoor 25 meter pool with 8 lanes for lap swimming, weight room with nautilus machines, classroom.
Swim Center Programs:

  • Nautilus instruction
  • water therapy, water aerobics, swimming lessons
    (all ages)
  • kayak roll practice
  • lifeguard training
  • Swimming Birthday Parties.

Fees and Charges:
Gymnasium and multi-purpose meeting rooms are available for rent at each of the Recreation Centers.

  • Gymnasiums are $75 per hour with a $75 refundable security deposit.
  • Rooms are $35 per hour with a $35 refundable deposit
  • Woodland Heights after-school program is $20.00 per week
  • Summer Camp program is $45 per week plus field trips
