SPARTA provides public transportation in and around the City of Spartanburg. Fares are $1.00 and 20 cents for a transfer to another bus. Students, seniors, and handicapped riders can ride the bus for 60 cents with free transfers. All SPARTA buses are handicapped accessible. The bus system has eight fixed routes. These routes are Westgate, Hillcrest, South Church Street, Spartanburg Technical College, North Church Street, Dorman Centre, South Liberty Street and Crestview. These routes provide service throughout the community, serving employment sites, education centers, medical facilities and retail areas. Monday through Friday service begins at 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM. On Saturday, buses operate from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Buses do not operate on Sundays and major holidays.
