Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award
for Humanitarian Excellence
Ten years ago, a local artist, Winston
Wingo sculpted a bust of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Since then, the bust has
become a tangible symbol of outstanding commitment to human rights in
Spartanburg. The award is given to one business and one non-profit organization
who is recognized for their efforts in promoting and celebrating diversity and
for encouraging the inclusion of all people in the community. The awards are
presented at the Unity Celebration each year.
