“We are pleased to be able to bring this family-friendly celebration to the Spartanburg community and the entire Upstate,” said City Special Events Manager Mandy Merck. “There will be lots of patriotic music, food, kid’s activities, and of course, a huge fireworks finale at the end of the celebration. We’ll also be giving out free flags to everyone entering the park.”

The National Anthem will be sung by 14-year old Janey Turner, founder of Hands for Soldiers. The Colors will be presented by members of the American Legion Post 28. WSPA News Channel 7’s Amy Wood and long-time radio broadcaster Bill Drake will emcee the event. (See Schedule Below)

Various displays will also be set up inside the park – including the Blue Star Mothers, Hands For Soldiers, Boy Scouts of America, and the Girl Scouts of the Piedmont. Visitors will also have an opportunity to meet and talk with Sgt. 1st Class Gregory A. Stube, a U.S. Army Special Forces Medical Sergeant wounded in action during Operation Enduring Freedom. SFC Stube is currently assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Public Affairs Office at Fort Bragg, NC.

Food and drinks will be sold inside the park.
