Economic Development
The Economic Development Department works to expand the City of Spartanburg's tax base and to provide quality job opportunities for its residents through new business development, retention/expansion initiatives, and facilitation of real estate development. The Economic Development Department serves as a liaison between the municipal government and the business and development community.
The Economic Development Department also coordinates and administers the functions of the Spartanburg Development Corporation (SDC). The mission of the SDC is to promote and assist the growth of business concerns to increase employment opportunities and expand businesses for the citizens of the City of Spartanburg.
