The facility will feature a Community Room for group meetings, a Learning Center, Senior Citizen room, Teen Center, Health & Wellness Room and a 14,000 sq. ft. gymnasium. Click on the CC Woodson Community Center for more information.

Stewart Park Activity Center | Plans for an Activity Center started with a vision to improve conditions in the Highland neighborhood area in Spartanburg. The City has partnered with the Mary Black Foundation and the Highland's community on the $2.7 million project. The Activity Center will be a facility designed with meeting rooms, computer labs, and a kitchen. Staff will be hired to maintain the facility and shuttle buses will be available for transportation to other area Recreation Centers. The design phase of the project will take four months with construction to begin in 2010.

HotSpot Skate Park | The Hot Spot Skate Park, located at 339 Union Street opened June 3, 2009. The new facility is a public/private partnership between the City of Spartanburg and the Coalition for Active Youth. The Skate Park contains 21,000 square feet of concrete with street skate elements and traditional style boarding ramps. Other unique structures provide for creative skating. The park is operated and managed by the City of Spartanburg's Parks and Recreation Division and is the first public concrete park in the state of South Carolina.

Duncan Park | The Tennis courts at Duncan Park were resurfaced in August, 2008 and the new bathroom facilities were remolded in July, 2009. Improvements to these facilities have greatly improved conditions to the historic park, known for it's minor league baseball facility and lush green landscapes. The park is located just south of the downtown district in the City limits of Spartanburg and anchors the Duncan Park Neighborhood.

USC Upstate Business College | Officially known as the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics, "The George" is currently under construction on St. John Street in Spartanburg. The three-story, 60,000-square-foot facility will cost an estimated $30 million and is expected to be completed in May, 2010. Duke Energy Foundation pledged $1.25 million, citing the facilities location as a tremendous enhancement to the downtown area of Spartanburg. Business and economic programs in the college will operate in the heart of downtown and will assist in the economic development of the City, the region and the State. The college will introduce thousands of business majors over the years to the opportunities for investment in the City. The location of the Business College in downtown Spartanburg is adjacent to the Chapman Cultural Center and beautiful Barnet Park. A new parking garage is being constructed on St. John Street as well as a new connector road, connecting the Marriott Hotel on N. Church St. with Barnet Park.

The Loop | This area of development is located between Daniel Morgan Ave. and St. John St. surrounding the area between Marriott Hotel on N. Church St. and the Chapman Cultural Center. Phase I of this project included the completion of the Marriott Hotel and the Chapman Cultural Center. Phase II of the project consist of the development of the St. John Street Parking Garage, the extension of Liberty Street and added features to Barnet Park. Bike lanes and pedestrian friendly crosswalks will be added to this area, creating a walkable urban center.
