About the City Manager: Ed Memmott
City Manager, Ed Memmott has been employed with the City of Spartanburg since 1997, serving as the City’s Community Development Director from 1997 - 2004. He was promoted to Assistant City Manager in 2004 with responsibility for Economic and Community Development, Engineering, Planning, Public Works, and Building Inspections.
In his career with the City, Ed has been primarily involved with downtown and neighborhood revitalization projects including the Advance America, Extended Stay America, QS/1 Data Systems, Marriott Hotel, South Church Plaza, University of South Carolina Upstate College of Business and Economics, and CC Woodson Recreation Center projects.
Ed is a cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina where he received a B.A. in History and International Studies and a Masters in Public Administration. He is married to Julie Memmott, who is employed as a mathematics teacher at McCracken Junior High School. Ed and Julie have two sons. Corey is a recent graduate of Wofford College and Andrew is a freshman at the University of South Carolina.
