A-Tax Grant Applications Due March 14
Accommodations tax revenue intended for groups that promote tourism in the City
The City of Spartanburg is now accepting applications for Accommodations Tax funds. Organizations that coordinate activities for the specific purpose of promoting and sponsoring tourism, travel, hospitality, and cultural activities that directly benefit the City of Spartanburg may apply for the funds. Tourism-related groups must be a state recognized non-profit or governmental agency in order to apply for funding. Accommodations tax is a 2% tax levied on lodging by the state of South Carolina.
Projects must take place between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015.
All applications — one original plus eight (8) copies — must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014. No faxed or emailed applications can be accepted — the applications must be delivered via mail carrier or hand-delivered. Following the March 14 deadline, the City of Spartanburg’s Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee will meet to review the applications. The committee will then make recommendations for funding to City Council. Applicants will be notified following City Council’s funding decision.
