City Council approves Brawley Street improvement project
Important project in Northside redevelopment gets nod from Council
At their meeting on Monday, Spartanburg City Council gave unanimous approval to a major project in the redevelopment of the city's Northside. The project includes extending a sewer line, wider sidewalks, a new curb and gutter, landscaped curb lawn, storm drainage improvements, construction of a rear access road and resurfacing of Brawley Street from the College Street to Folsom Street. Raby Construction Company, LLC of Greenville was the low bidder on the project at $227,492.
Also at the meeting, Council heard an final financial report for fiscal year 2013. The City finished out the year with a surplus of around $400,000, and increased its reserve fund balance from 18 percent to 20 percent of annual revenue, roughly $6.5 million.
