350 feet of aging storm drainage pipe to be replaced on City's west side

At their meeting Monday, City Council took the following actions:

° Unanimously voted to rezone property located at 710 South Church Street from General Residential District to Limited Commercial District. Before coming to Council, the rezoning request was endorsed by the City Planning Commission

° Voted 7-0 to award a $39,996 contract to McAbee Construction of Inman to remove and replace approximately 350 feet of storm drainage pipe from under Barclay Downs Drive in the Camelot neighborhood on the City's west side. Funds for the project will come from the City's storm water utility fund.

° Voted 6-1 to award a $87,125 contract to B & B Demolition Specialists of Charleston for the demolition of the T.K. Gregg Recreation Center. Last year, Council voted to close the aging center and use the savings for the eventual construction of a replacement. Council member Linda Dogan voted against the demolition, and had previously voted against closing the center.
