'Creatures of the Night' brings Halloween-inspired fun to Cottonwood Trail

Wednesday, October 15

Nighttime hike and scavenger hunt coming to Cottonwood Trail October 18 at 7 p.m.

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you're looking for a family-friendly way to get a jump on the spooky season, bring the kids on out to the Cottonwood Trail and learn about the critters that take over while the rest of us are sleeping at the "Creatures of the Night" scavenger hunt and night hike, October 18 at 7 p.m.

Bring your flashlight and get ready to explore some of the nighttime sights and sounds of the forest while following a series of Halloween-themed clues down the Cottonwood on a spooky nighttime scavenger hunt. Along the way, learn the difference between myth and reality about some of nature's most notorious nightmare-enducing animals, like the bloodsucking vampire bat.

Registration for this event is required, so contact Liz Walker by email at or by phone at 864-562-4199. Transportation from C.C. Woodson Community Center will be provided for the first 13 participants who register, and the cost to participate is $1 for ages five and up. Please dress for the weather and for the trail. Costumes are welcome and encouraged!
