Main Street Challenge Update
Selection Committee to choose a dozen finalists
Forty-eight applicants have entered the Main Street Challenge, the City's innovative economic incentive opportunity that will result in the opening of three new businesses in currently vacant downtown storefronts along Main Street.
The eventual winners each will receive $1,000 per month for 12 months, along with a host of in-kind contributions and support — such as accounting and tax preparation, printing and legal help — from local businesses.
A selection committee is reviewing the proposals and will select 12 finalists. The finalists will be asked to submit a more detailed business plan. The goal is for the three winning businesses to open sometime this summer.
