Brown sworn in as new District 6 Council member

At their meeting on Monday, Spartanburg City Council welcomed Erica Brown, who was sworn in as the new Council member for District 6 which encompasses much of the city's north side. Brown was elected to the seat in November. Council members Cate Ryba and Jerome Rice, as well as Mayor Junie White, were also sworn in for their second terms at the meeting. Council member Jan Scalisi was elected Mayor Pro Tem for the coming year.

Also at the meeting, Council voted 6-0 to award a contract to replace 230 feet of storm drainage pipe under Farley Avenue to low bidder Saluda Construction, Inc. of Greenville for $148,315. Funding for the project comes from the City's storm water utility fund, and construction is expected to take around 60 days. For more on Monday's Council meeting, see our full video below.
