Private Ice Parties at the Rink

Rent Skating on the Square for your Group, Organization or Business

After regular operating hours, the Ice Rink is available for Private Ice Parties. During this time, the rink is solely yours for you to enjoy. The cost is $500 for a 2 hour period. It includes up to 25 skaters, $20 per person for each additional skater.

Q: Where is Skating on the Square?

A: Spartanburg’s open-air ice rink is in the heart of the City – on Morgan Square. Morgan Square is surrounded by Church Street, Dunbar, and West Main Streets.

Q: What are the dates of Skating on the Square?

A. Nov. 16, 2012 thru Jan. 6, 2013. 

Q. What are the hours of Skating on the Square?

A. Primarily, hours are as follows: Monday-Thursday: 3- 9 pm; Fridays: 3 –11 pm; Saturdays: 10 am – 11 pm; and Sundays: 1-9 pm. Open times vary during school holidays and on official holidays. Here's the entire calendar with operation hours: Operating Hours

Q: How much does it cost to skate?

A: The cost for admission is $10 per person. This price includes the skate rental.

Q: How long can I skate?

A: All day long if you want to! Skaters receive a wristband and as long as you are wearing the wristband you can skate as long as you want to on the day of purchase. You can skate, leave, and come back later in the day. Note:  During extremely busy times (mainly Saturday nights) skaters may have to come off of the ice to allow others to get on.  We rotate skaters out every 30 minutes if it is too crowded.  If a skater comes off the ice, they can get in line & get back on again.

Q. Can children skate by themselves?

A. Children under the age of 10 MUST HAVE SOMEONE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OLD with them on the ice at all times.

Q: What forms of payment are accepted?

A: We accept cash, debit cards, and all major credit cards.

Q: What size skates are available?

A: Skates are available from child size 9 up to adult size 12. Socks are required to skate.

Q: Can I bring my own skates?

A: Yes, but the admission price is the same.

Q: Is there a place to store my personal belongings?

A: Skating on the Square does not have any storage for personal belongs so please plan for your own needs. Your shoes will be held in exchange for rental skates. If leaving personal items in your vehicle, PLEASE PLACE THEM IN THE TRUNK or out of site of opportunists.

Q: Will Skating on the Square close due to rain, snow, warm temperaturs or other inclement weather?

A. Safety is our top priority. If conditions become unsafe due to rain or snow, or even unseasonably warm temperatures,  we may need to close the rink. Any such closure will be announced on our Facebook page and at www.skatingonthesquare.com.

Q: Where should I park when visiting Skating on the Square?

A: There are hundreds of parking spaces available within one block of the ice rink in the Magnolia Street parking garage and the Dunbar Street parking garages. For parking information, please click here.

Q: What is the ice rink's capacity?

A: The rink has a radius of 37 feet. Approximately 80 skaters can be on the ice.
