To keep our City safe, the Police Department has officers assigned to patrol duties throughout the City at all times. In order to ensure that all areas of Spartanburg are covered, the City is divided into four patrol districts.
The workday for Patrol Officers is divided into three shifts. Officers are assigned to each district on every shift. The Uniform Patrol Division is divided into three platoons. Each platoon has two teams. Each team is assigned a Watch Commander with the rank of lieutenant. The Watch Commanders are responsible for oversight of their respective teams and are assisted by a sergeant who works directly with the officers assigned to their teams.
