Criminal Investigation Division (CID)

Solving Crimes to Keep Our City Safe

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is responsible for developing and uncovering the evidence necessary to arrest and eventually prosecute criminal offenders. Investigators prepare cases, recover stolen property, help locate missing persons, and focus attention on violence in families, serving the victims of violent crime. In addition to their investigative function, officers in the division are responsible for crime prevention, latent examinations, crime scene processing, gang investigations, burglary reduction, and youth violence reduction. Additionally, one investigator is assigned to the local FBI task force.

CID handles property crimes, financial crimes, and violent crimes committed against individuals. Typically, investigators concentrate on one category but may be assigned cases from either category as workloads dictate.
