Traffic & Patrol

Providing a visible, proactive law enforcement presence in our city.

The Uniform Patrol Division is the largest branch of the Spartanburg Public Safety Department, providing our most visible presence in the community. Patrol serves as the backbone of our organization, and officers serve as first responders to all reported emergencies, crimes in progress, and other calls for service. Officers in the division also conduct preliminary investigations, enforce traffic laws, and engage in self-initiated activity. The Patrol Division includes foot patrol, one and two-officer cars, undercover cars, motorcycles, and bicycles to patrol the City, providing all areas of our City with a responsive police presence.

The Patrol Division is able to reduce crime in Spartanburg through collaboration and involvement with the citizens and business owners, and our successes are their successes. Our Uniform Patrol Division and Crime Prevention Unit work with neighborhood groups to improve their communities because neighbors looking out for each other while working alongside law enforcement are critical to ensuring that Spartanburg remains a vibrant, safe city.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit is responsible for the planning, analysis, and coordination of the department's police traffic services. The unit investigates collisions, enforces traffic laws, coordinates checkpoints, and provides training and information at public functions for schools and other groups.

Our Traffic Enforcement Unit is focused on citizen education, while actively identifying traffic violations with the goal of reducing collisions and creating safer driving conditions in our City.
