According to the U.S. Fire Administration, around 2,500 people in the United States die every year in residential fires. Most of the deaths weren’t a result of the fire itself, but rather the smoke the fire produced, and many could’ve been prevented by having smoke detectors in the home. To keep you and your family safe, it is best to have smoke detectors on every floor of your home, and near every bedroom.
As a service to Spartanburg City residents, the Spartanburg Fire Department installs smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors (and batteries) when requested, and advises residents in maintaining the devices to help ensure that all of Spartanburg’s citizens are protected from the dangers of house fires.
